Intra-flow Interference Study in IEEE 802.11s Mesh Networks

چکیده
In wireless mesh networks, when a packet is relayed by a station, it can get into collision with another packet of the same flow. This effect is called intra-flow interference. In this paper we propose an analytical model to study the problem of intra-flow interference. Taking into account collisions caused by both neighbor stations and hidden stations, we estimate the saturated throughput of a given flow in the mesh network.

IEEE 802.11s wireless mesh networks: Framework and challenges
Wireless mesh networking based on 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) has been actively explored for a few years. To improve the performance of WLAN mesh networks, a few new communication protocols have been developed in recent years. However, these solutions are usually proprietary and prevent WLAN mesh networks from interworking with each other. Thus, a standard becomes indispensable fo...
متن کاملComparison of Proposed Path Selection Protocols for IEEE 802.11s WLAN Mesh Networks
IEEE 802.11s wireless LAN mesh network technology is the next step in the evolution of wireless architecture. A WLAN mesh network consists of WLAN devices with relay functions that communicate directly. In this type of networks, path selection is based on two protocols: HWMP and RA-OLSR. This paper presents a detailed study of the performance of the proposed path selection algorithms for IEEE 8...
متن کاملA dynamic update of the HWMP proactive tree for IEEE 802.11s based wireless mesh networks
In this paper we propose a dynamic update of the HWMP (Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol) proactive tree by changing dynamically the path request (PREQ) transmission interval, instead of a periodic fixed value as defined in the IEEE 802.11s draft. Indeed, we adapt dynamically the value of the PREQ transmission interval according to the wireless environment characteristics and to the amount of traff...

متن کاملA Simple yet Effective Scheme for the Maintenance of Proxy Information in IEEE 802.11s Wireless Mesh Networks
According to the IEEE 802.11s draft standard, the mesh STA may maintain proxy information on STAs that are associated with a collocated access point or are behind a collocated portal. The proxy information plays a very important role in wireless mesh networks for additional delays may be introduced owing to the absence of proxy information during frame forwarding. While the method for maintaini...
